Friday, June 27, 2008

Sunday, June 15, 2008

RULES

These are the basic rules for 10x10:
-Presentation: Each person shows 10 images. You have 5 minutes total to show all images. It will be programmed on a computer, so you should be fast and we recommend you practice your presentation.
-Format: 10 images in JPEG format
-Sending: Once you have your images, please e-mail them to us (no later than a 4 days before the event). We usually have a page with a preview image of each presenter before each event, so please also send us an image that you want for your thumbnail.
-Schedule: The doors open at 7pm & the first presentation starts at 7:20.
>See below for the full guidelines for10x10 presentations in Miami (PDF).

10x10 is a lot of fun for short attention fragments. We welcome a broad mix of participants, from well-known professionals to students, recent graduates and new firms presenting their work for the first time.  Come thirsty and bring along your friends!

FORMAT

1. -Save your images in JPEG format (size: 1024px by 768px).

-Landscape orientation is preferred in order to maximize the viewable area of the screen, but Picasa will adjust the size of a portrait image in order to fit the screen.

-Keep your images under 450 KB each (we recommend using the "save for web" option in Photoshop to keep images light).-Once you have them all ready, zip them and e-mail them to us (it makes it a lot easier for you and for us to send them altogether in one zip folder than all separately). 2. -Please use the following naming format to make sure your slides are incorrect order (but use your initials instead of “FL”):FL_001.jpg FL_006.jpgFL_002.jpg FL_007.jpgFL_003.jpg FL_008.jpgFL_004.jpg FL_009.jpgFL_005.jpg FL_010.jpg For example: to avoid having your slide #10 before your slide #2 (the computer will read FL_0010.jpgbefore FL_002.jpg), make sure you use the above naming format. The best thing to do to make sure your slides are in correct order is to rehearse before the event. Sort your images by name and practice your talk.
If you are a Mac user, make sure your images run well on PC before sending them to us or vice-versa.
Also, just a friendly reminder that 10x10 is not a venue for sales pitches, so any presentation with a commercial intent or a corporate promotion will NOT be welcome.
Please let us know if you have any questions:

PRESENTATION GUIDELINES

You've signed up for presenting at the 10 x 10.1 Miami. We're very excited; it will be a very fun and dynamic night. We want to remind you a couple of things to make sure your presentation goes well.
BEFORE THE EVENT:
1. Please also confirm your participation by email.
2. Let us know your full name and title (i.e. architect, graphic designer, urban planner, artist, inventor, etc.)
3. Send us a preview image by e-mail. This will be published on the website prior to the event.
YOUR 10 IMAGES:
1. Please make sure you have your 10 images ready at least four days before the event. Since there are several presenters on every event, we can't afford to waste time setting up images on-site or dealing with format nuances during the event.
2. PLEASE follow the format below, we have had some presenters not respecting the format in the past and this brings technical issues during presentations. If you name your images correctly there should be no disordered images. We use a software called Picasa (by Google) to run the slideshow, it makes a nice fade between slides and it is programmed to show every slide for 20 seconds only (so neither you or us have control over that).

10x10 ARRIVED TO MIAMI

It's time for the design talent in Miami to "See & Be Seen."
So much design talent in Miami & so little exposure!
Here's the chance for you, designers of all kinds, to tell the world about YOUR big ideas! Break out of those pesky specialties, see what cool things are going on right here in town. Who knows you might just stimulate some cross-discipline collaborations & connections & maybe even get inspired in the process.
We have invited designers in product design, interactive media, illustration, music, fashion, graphics, film, architecture & landscape - virtual and real- to stand-up and show the world what they can do.
This is the Miami version of 10x10, originally created by architects James Bowen and Hugo Mijares.
> 10x10 Miami is intended to gather creative individuals to share their work and ideas in a night, chilling-out, getting together and exchanging thoughts in an informal environment. 10x10 welcomes creative minds from the fields of Architecture, Industrial Design, Graphic Design, Motion Graphics, Music, Fashion, Animation and Design in general. We also invite students who are looking for a job and want to promote their skills. 10x10 represents a new expression venue for people in the creative world.
